Bespoke Wardrobe with Integrated Oak Desktop

This bespoke built-in wardrobe and workstation was designed for a client’s son, an avid gamer, who needed a functional space that could accommodate both daily storage and a full gaming setup. The goal was to create a modern yet timeless piece that complemented the character of the room while offering seamless practicality.

The installation combines traditional craftsmanship with modern design detailing:

• Carcass: Constructed using Egger MFC Alpine White, chosen for its clean, durable finish and bright internal appearance.
• Doors, Plinths & Infills: Made from Hidrofugo MDF, providing moisture resistance and stability, then professionally spray-painted in a smooth satin white for a flawless, hard-wearing surface.
• Cornice: Handcrafted from tulipwood, selected for its fine grain, ensuring crisp definition and a premium finish once painted.
• Desktop: A solid oak worktop adds warmth and contrast, offering a natural focal point and a tactile surface ideal for a gaming setup.
• Power Management: A discreet pop-up socket is integrated into the oak desktop, keeping cables tidy and power access convenient for monitors and peripherals.

The built-in wardrobe was carefully proportioned to align with the room’s exposed beams and period features. The combination of painted white cabinetry and natural oak ties modern functionality with the rustic charm of the space, while understated knob handles and a recessed workstation create balance and simplicity.

The completed piece delivers a streamlined, ergonomic workstation seamlessly integrated within a full-height wardrobe design. It meets both practical and aesthetic needs — offering a clutter-free environment for gaming and study, without compromising the style of the home.
